Ingredients
  

Meat Mixture

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper

Sauce

  • 2 (10.5 oz) cans cream of mushroom soup
  • 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup milk

Topping

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 32 oz frozen tater tots

Instructions
 

Meat Mixture

  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef with diced onion and minced garlic until no pink remains, about 8 minutes. Drain excess fat and season with salt and pepper.

Sauce

  • Sprinkle flour over the meat mixture and stir for 1 minute. Add both cans of cream of mushroom soup and milk, stirring until smooth. Simmer for 3–4 minutes until bubbling and slightly thickened.

Assembly

  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Spread the beef-sauce mixture evenly in a greased 9×13″ baking dish. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top, then arrange tater tots in a single layer.

  • Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes until the tots are golden and crisp and the cheese is bubbling. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
Freeze individual portions for up to 2 months and thaw overnight.
Pre-bake tater tots for 5 minutes if you prefer extra crunch.
