Key Ingredients & Their Roles

  • RITZ® Crackers: Provide a buttery crunch that complements the soft filling.
  • Deli Ham: Adds a savory, meaty flavor to the sandwiches.
  • Swiss Cheese: Melts beautifully, bringing creaminess and flavor.
  • Unsalted Butter: Essential for moisture and richness in flavor.

How to Make Crackers Party Sandwiches

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). The warmth enhances the flavors beautifully.
  2. In a 13×9 inch baking dish, lay down 24 RITZ® Crackers, flat side down. Place another set in a second dish.
  3. Tear the deli ham into strips and arrange them on each cracker, gently folding each piece to fit.
  4. Slice Swiss cheese into 1-inch pieces and layer them atop the ham, then cover with another cracker, rounded side up.
  5. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt butter for about 45 seconds. Stir in Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and salt.
  6. Drizzle the butter mixture evenly over the sandwiches, then sprinkle poppy seeds and onion flakes on top.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese bubbles and crackers are golden brown.

Pro Tips & Troubleshooting

  • For a future twist, try adding sliced jalapeños for a spicy kick that meshes wonderfully with the cheese.
  • A common pitfall is overfilling the sandwiches. Stick to a small slice of ham and cheese to ensure even cooking.
  • This recipe easily scales; you can double the ingredients for a larger batch or halve them for a cozy night in.

Storage & Make-Ahead Guide

Store these sandwiches in the fridge for up to 3 days. For freezing, they can last about a month. To reheat, pop them in the oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes. This keeps the crackers crunchy and the filling warm. My personal test revealed that freezing slightly alters the texture, but they still taste fantastic when reheated!
