Ingredients

  • 6 oz canned tuna good quality
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Greek yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 wedge lemon
  • 2 tablespoons dill pickles finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons celery finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon red onion finely chopped
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch black pepper
  • 4 slices sandwich bread
  • 2 slices cheese Swiss or cheddar
  • 4 slices tomato

Instructions

  • Begin by finely dicing the dill pickles, celery, and red onion. If you find red onions too pungent, soak them in cold water for a few minutes to mellow out their flavor.
  • Drain the canned tuna and transfer it into a medium-sized mixing bowl. Use a fork to gently break it up into smaller pieces.
  • Mix in the chopped vegetables, mayonnaise, Greek yogurt, Dijon mustard, and squeeze in the juice from the lemon wedge. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper, and stir everything together until well combined.
  • Prepare the sandwich by adding cheese to the bottom slices of bread, followed by the tomato slices. Spoon the creamy tuna mixture generously on top and close with the other slice of bread.
  • Toast the sandwich in a preheated panini press until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted, about 3 to 4 minutes. Alternatively, you can cook it in a skillet with a drizzle of avocado oil, flipping gently until both sides are crisp and golden.
  • Once done, slice the sandwich in half and enjoy your delicious Tuna Melt, overflowing with comforting flavors and textures!

Notes

I love how this Tuna Melt combines creamy and tangy tuna with gooey cheese for a satisfying lunch. With a lighter tuna salad, it perfectly balances indulgence and health.
