Ingredients
  

  • - 1 sheet puff pastry thawed
  • - Powdered sugar for dusting
  • Custard Filling:
  • - 2 cups whole milk
  • - 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • - 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • - Pinch of salt
  • - 4 large egg yolks

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Roll out puff pastry and cut into equal-sized circles. Place on the baking sheet.
  • Bake for 15–20 minutes until golden and puffed. Cool completely.
  • In a saucepan, whisk milk, sugar, cornstarch, and salt over medium heat until it starts to thicken.
  • In a small bowl, whisk egg yolks. Gradually add a few spoonfuls of hot milk mixture to temper.
  • Pour yolk mixture back into the saucepan, whisking constantly until thick and smooth.
  • Remove custard from heat. Cool completely before using.
  • Slice puff pastries in half horizontally. Fill with custard using a spoon or piping bag.
  • Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately or chill.

Notes

- For extra flavor, add 1 tsp vanilla extract or lemon zest to the custard.
- Chill custard before assembling for easier handling.
- Assembled puffs are best enjoyed within 24 hours.
