- 1 lb flank or sirloin steak thinly sliced against the grain
- 1 tbsp soy sauce for marinade
- 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine or dry sherry
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp cornstarch
For the Sauce:
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 cup beef broth or water
- 1 tsp cornstarch
For the Stir-Fry:
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil divided
- 1 red bell pepper sliced
- 1 green bell pepper sliced
- 1 yellow bell pepper sliced
- 1 medium onion sliced
- 3 garlic cloves minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger minced
- Black pepper to taste
- Cooked white rice for serving
Marinate Beef: Combine beef with soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, sesame oil, and cornstarch. Marinate for 15–20 minutes.
Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together all sauce ingredients and set aside.
Sear the Beef: Heat 1 tbsp oil in a hot skillet or wok. Sear beef in a single layer for 1–2 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
Stir-Fry Veggies: Add remaining oil. Stir-fry onions, bell peppers, garlic, and ginger for 3–4 minutes.
