  • 1 pound penne or medium shells
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil
  • 8 hot Italian sausages crumble the meat
  • 3/4 cup dry white wine
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 3 tablespoons grainy mustard
  • 1 pinch crushed red pepper
  • 1 cup thinly sliced basil

  • Start by gathering all your ingredients so you're ready to go.
  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the penne until it's al dente—about 10-12 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, heat the avocado oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the crumbled sausage and cook until it's beautifully browned, around 5 minutes.
  • Pour in the white wine, scraping up the flavorful bits stuck to the bottom of the skillet. Let it simmer and reduce for about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the heavy cream, grainy mustard, and a pinch of crushed red pepper. Allow everything to simmer gently for about 2 minutes.
  • Take the skillet off the heat, then add the cooked pasta and fresh basil, tossing everything to ensure it's nicely coated.
  • Serve it up right away and enjoy the savory flavors!
