Ingredients
  

Turtle Bases

  • 48 pecan halves
  • 10 oz Kraft caramels unwrapped
  • 2 Tbsp heavy whipping cream

Chocolate Coating

  • 12 oz chocolate melting wafers milk or dark
  • flaky sea salt optional

Instructions
 

Assemble Turtles

  • Preheat the oven to 325°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange pecan halves in neat rows.
  • Unwrap the caramels and place one on top of each pecan.
  • Bake for 5–6 minutes, until the caramel edges just start to soften.
  • Remove from the oven and press each caramel gently with the bottom of a glass to form a flat base.
  • Let the turtles rest at room temperature for 2 minutes.

Chocolate Topping

  • Melt the chocolate wafers in the microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring until smooth.
  • Dollop or drizzle melted chocolate over each turtle, covering the caramel surface.
  • If desired, sprinkle flaky sea salt on top.
  • Allow to set at room temperature for 30 minutes, until the chocolate snaps when touched.

Notes

Store at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
For longer storage, refrigerate for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 1 month, thawing in the fridge before serving.
Always use clean utensils to prevent contamination.
