Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup real bacon bits
  • 8 to 10 chives finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  • Add the softened cream cheese, sour cream, shredded cheddar, bacon bits, chopped chives, and garlic powder to a large mixing bowl. Stir well until everything is fully combined and the mixture is smooth and creamy with no streaks of plain cream cheese remaining.
  • Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap or transfer to an airtight container. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
  • Remove from the refrigerator, stir, and transfer to a serving bowl if desired. Garnish with extra chives or shredded cheddar and serve cold with Ritz crackers.

Notes

Cream cheese must be fully softened before mixing for a smooth, lump-free dip.
For best flavor, make this dip 3 to 4 hours ahead or the night before — it gets better the longer it chills.
Use freshly shredded cheddar from a block for the creamiest texture.
Real cooked and crumbled bacon gives better flavor than artificial shelf-stable bacon bits.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Not suitable for freezing.
Pairs well with Ritz crackers, tortilla chips, pretzels, and raw vegetables.
