- 1 lb ground beef or ground turkey for a leaner option
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs substitute gluten-free breadcrumbs if needed
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley or 1 tablespoon dried parsley
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup marinara sauce use a dairy-free version if needed
- Olive oil for frying or a non-stick spray for a lighter option
In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, parsley, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Stir until well combined.
Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Brown the meatballs, turning them to ensure they cook evenly, about 3-4 minutes per side.
Once browned, add marinara sauce to the skillet, covering the meatballs. Let simmer for 10-15 minutes until meatballs are cooked through.
Serve with pasta, on a sub roll, or enjoy as-is!
If you prefer a healthier option, you can bake the meatballs in a 375°F oven for 20-25 minutes instead of frying.
For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes to the meatball mixture.
