For the Chicken Coating:
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 cup bread crumbs or gluten-free alternative
- ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
For the Cheese Topping:
- ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 cloves garlic minced
1. Preheat the Oven & Prepare the Baking Dish
2. Prepare the Coating Mixtures
In a shallow dish, add flour for dredging.
In another dish, whisk together eggs and milk.
In a third dish, mix bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
3. Coat the Chicken
Dredge chicken breasts in flour, coating evenly. Shake off excess.
Dip the chicken into the egg mixture, coating both sides.
Press into the Parmesan-bread crumb mixture, ensuring a full coating.
4. Sear the Chicken
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Sear chicken for 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown.
5. Add the Cheese Topping
In a small bowl, mix Parmesan, mozzarella, and garlic.
Sprinkle over each chicken breast generously.
6. Bake the Chicken
Transfer seared chicken to the prepared baking dish.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
If cheese browns too quickly, loosely cover with foil.
7. Serve & Enjoy!
Let chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with mashed potatoes, veggies, or pasta.
- For extra crispiness, double-dip the chicken in the egg and breadcrumb mixture.
- To make it gluten-free, use gluten-free breadcrumbs.
- For a healthier version, bake instead of searing or use an air fryer at 375°F for 12-15 minutes.
