Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour plus extra for dusting
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or substitute with avocado oil
  • 1 packet 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water about 110°F

Alternatives:

  •
  • For a gluten-free option substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend.
  • For a dairy-free option simply omit the olive oil or use coconut oil.

Instructions

  • Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy.
  • Mix dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
  • Combine wet and dry ingredients: Pour the yeast mixture and olive oil into the flour mixture. Stir until a dough begins to form.
  • Knead the dough: Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  • Let it rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a damp cloth. Let it rise for 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
  • Shape the dough: Punch down the dough and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out to your desired thickness and shape.
  •
  • Bake your pizza: Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Add your favorite toppings and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and crispy.

Notes

  • Storage: Store leftover dough in a tightly wrapped plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Let it come to room temperature before using.

  • Tips: Make sure your water is warm, but not too hot, to avoid killing the yeast. If you want a softer dough, reduce the amount of flour slightly. For a crisper crust, roll the dough thinner.
