This Homemade Fig Jam is sweet, rich, and simple to make with fresh figs, lemon juice, and sugar. No pectin needed—just real fruit flavor in every spoonful!
2poundsfresh ripe figs stems removed and quartered
1½cupsgranulated sugar
¼cupfresh lemon juice
½cupwater
Instructions
Wash and prepare the figs by removing stems and cutting them into quarters.
Add figs, sugar, lemon juice, and water to a heavy-bottomed saucepan.
Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to a simmer.
Stir often, mashing the figs as they soften to your desired texture.
Simmer uncovered for 45–60 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
Test for doneness by placing a small spoonful on a chilled plate. If it wrinkles when pushed, it’s ready.
Spoon the jam into sterilized jars, seal, and let cool.
Store in the fridge for up to 3 weeks or process in a water bath for longer storage.
Notes
For a deeper flavor, add 1 tsp vanilla or a cinnamon stick while cooking (remove before jarring). You can substitute honey for part of the sugar for a more natural sweetener.Use an immersion blender for a smoother texture.
