- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 small onion finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 8 oz mushrooms sliced
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 12 oz egg noodles cooked and drained
- Fresh parsley chopped (for garnish)
Cook the Ground Beef
Heat a large skillet over medium heat and melt the butter. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it into small pieces. Remove and set aside.
Sauté the Vegetables
In the same skillet, sauté the onions until soft, about 3 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute. Toss in the mushrooms and cook until tender.
Make the Sauce
Sprinkle the flour over the vegetables and stir to combine. Gradually add the beef broth while stirring to create a smooth sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes until thickened.
Combine the Ingredients
Return the ground beef to the skillet and mix well. Add the paprika, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir in the sour cream over low heat until the sauce is creamy and smooth. Do not boil.
Serve
Serve the stroganoff over cooked egg noodles and garnish with fresh parsley. Enjoy warm!
- For a thicker sauce, increase the flour to 3 tablespoons.
- Substitute Greek yogurt for sour cream for a lighter version.
- Serve over rice or mashed potatoes as an alternative to noodles.
