Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2.75 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking powder

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 1.5 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 tablespoons sour cream

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda and baking powder. Set aside.

Mix Wet Ingredients

  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in the egg, vanilla extract and almond extract until light and fluffy.
  • Gradually blend in the dry ingredients, then stir in sour cream one tablespoon at a time until a soft dough forms.

Shaping & Baking

  • Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and place onto ungreased cookie sheets about 2 inches apart.
  • Dip the bottom of a glass in colored sugar and gently flatten each ball. Sprinkle with additional colored sugar.
  • Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven until edges are lightly browned.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
