Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
  • 1/4 cup seasoned bread crumbs
  • 3/4 cup onion finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 12 oz pkg sweet Hawaiian rolls
  • 6 slices cheddar or American cheese

Instructions

  • Heat oven to 400 degrees. In a bowl, combine beef, bread crumbs, onion, and salt. Gently press mixture into a 9-by-13-inch pan to make one large patty of even thickness. Use the tines of a fork to poke holes throughout the meat.
  • Bake for 30 minutes. The meat will shrink and liquid will accumulate around the edges. When fully cooked, remove from oven and drain off the liquid.
  • Top the meat with sliced cheese; return to oven for about 2 minutes or until the cheese melts. Remove and allow to rest.
  • Cut into 2-inch squares to fit the buns, making 12 mini-hamburgers. Serve with dill pickle slices and ketchup.
