  • 8 hot dog buns
  • 1 package cream cheese 8-ounce, softened
  • 4 drops red food coloring
  • 48 slivered almonds
  • Ketchup for serving

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, stir together cream cheese and red food coloring until smooth and evenly tinted.
  • Slice each hot dog bun lengthwise, leaving a hinge on one side.
  • Spread about 1 tablespoon of the red cream cheese mixture inside the top and bottom of each bun.
  • Press six slivered almonds into each half of the bun to resemble vampire teeth.
  • Place the prepared buns on the baking sheet and bake for 6 minutes, until the edges turn golden and the filling is warmed through.
  • Serve immediately with ketchup for dipping.

Notes

I found that toasting the almonds for 2 minutes before assembly helped them stick and added a nutty aroma.
If the buns brown too quickly, tent them loosely with foil after 4 minutes to prevent overcrisping.
Leftover Dracula Dentures can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours; let come to room temperature before serving.
