- 1 cup 200g granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup 100g brown sugar
- 3/4 cup 95g all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup 45g unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup 115g unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup 130g semi-sweet chocolate chips (plus extra for topping)
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8" pan with parchment paper or lightly grease.
In a bowl, whisk together sugars, eggs, and vanilla until frothy.
Add melted butter and mix until smooth.
Sift in flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Fold gently to combine.
Stir in chocolate chips, reserving a few for topping.
Pour batter into the pan and smooth the top. Add remaining chips.
Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
Cool completely before slicing.
For gluten-free: use 1:1 gluten-free flour blend.
For dairy-free: substitute butter with coconut oil.
Chill before slicing for cleaner cuts.
Add-ins like nuts, espresso powder, or caramel work great!
