Ingredients

For the Dough

  • 3 ½ cups bread flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 1 ¼ cups warm water (around 110°F)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Sauce

  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon basil (dried or fresh, finely chopped)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Toppings

  • 2 cups freshly grated mozzarella cheese
  • Your choice of toppings (e.g., pepperoni, mushrooms, bell peppers, arugula)

Instructions

1. Make the Dough

  1. Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a small bowl. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Slowly add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until dough comes together.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1–2 hours until doubled in size.

2. Prepare the Sauce

  1. Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds.
  2. Stir in crushed tomatoes, sugar, oregano, and basil. Simmer for 15–20 minutes.
  3. Season with salt and pepper. Let cool.

3. Assemble the Pizza

  1. Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
  2. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer to a pizza stone or baking sheet dusted with cornmeal.
  3. Spread a thin layer of sauce over the dough, leaving a ½-inch border.
  4. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly, then add your choice of toppings.
  5. Brush the crust edges with olive oil for a golden finish.

4. Bake and Serve

  1. Bake for 10–12 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
  2. Let rest for 2–3 minutes before slicing. Serve and enjoy!

Notes
