Description

The Dubai Chocolate Strawberry Cup is a delightful dessert that combines the richness of melted chocolate with the freshness of strawberries, all encased in a crisp chocolate shell. The creamy Nutella filling adds a perfect balance to the sweet strawberries, while the crunchy pistachio kataifi gives a unique texture. This indulgent treat is easy to make and perfect for impressing guests at any gathering, from casual to festive occasions.

Ingredients

For the Chocolate Cups:

  • 200g (7 oz) dark or milk chocolate (your choice)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, for smoother texture)

For the Strawberry Filling:

  • 1012 fresh strawberries (depending on size)
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (optional, for added sweetness)

For the Crunchy Layer:

  • 75g kataifi (shredded pastry)
  • 40g butter (for toasting)
  • 140g pistachio paste (or substitute with almond paste if preferred)

For Garnishing (optional):

  • Mint leaves
  • Shredded coconut or chopped nuts

Instructions

  • Prepare the Chocolate Cups:

    • Melt the chocolate and coconut oil in a heatproof bowl over a double boiler or microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring between each.
    • Once melted, spoon the chocolate into silicone molds or muffin cups, ensuring the sides are evenly coated. Refrigerate for at least 20 minutes to set.
  • Prepare the Strawberry Filling:

    • Hull and chop the strawberries into small pieces. Toss them with powdered sugar (if using) and let them sit for a few minutes to release their natural juice.
  • Toast the Kataifi:

    • In a small pan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the kataifi and stir it continuously until golden brown and crispy. Once toasted, mix in the pistachio paste to combine.
  • Assemble the Cups:

    • Once the chocolate cups have set, carefully remove them from the molds.
    • Fill each chocolate cup with the sweetened strawberries, pressing them down gently.
    • Top with a layer of the toasted kataifi and pistachio mixture.
  • Chill and Serve:

    • Refrigerate the assembled cups for an additional 10-15 minutes to set the layers.
    • Garnish with mint leaves or shredded coconut if desired, and serve chilled.

Notes

  • Make it Vegan: For a vegan version, use dairy-free chocolate and replace butter with coconut oil.
  • Customization: Feel free to swap the strawberries with other fruits like raspberries or blueberries, depending on your preference.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
