Description

This cheesy garlic bread is life-changing: buttery, garlicky, cheesy, and crispy without being heavy. It’s perfect for pairing with pasta, soups, or simply enjoying on its own.


Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of French or Italian bread (about 14 oz)
  • 1/2 cup salted butter, softened
  • 34 cloves of garlic, minced (or 1 tablespoon of garlic powder)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the Bread: Slice the loaf of bread in half lengthwise and place both halves cut-side up on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Make the Garlic Butter Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, Italian seasoning (if using), salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  4. Spread the Mixture: Generously spread the garlic butter mixture over both halves of the bread, ensuring even coverage for maximum flavor.
  5. Add Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan evenly over the buttered bread halves.
  6. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 12-15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. For an extra crispy top, switch to broil for an additional 1-2 minutes at the end.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Once out of the oven, sprinkle with fresh parsley if desired. Slice into pieces and serve warm.

Notes

For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes to the cheese topping.

You can use different types of cheese like cheddar or gouda for variety.
