Description

This beef stir fry recipe is a quick and delicious way to enjoy a hearty meal. It combines tender beef, colorful veggies, and a sweet-tangy sauce. Perfect for busy weeknights, it’s ready in just 30 minutes and packed with flavor and nutrition.


Ingredients

For the Stir Fry:

  • 1 lb (450 g) top sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 medium zucchini, sliced on the diagonal
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1/2 lb (225 g) mushrooms, thinly sliced
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1/2 Tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 3 Tbsp oil (extra light olive oil or avocado oil)

For the Sauce:

  • 3 Tbsp BBQ sauce
  • 3 Tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 Tbsp low-sodium soy sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sauce
    In a small bowl, whisk together BBQ sauce, maple syrup, and soy sauce. Set aside.
  2. Sear the Beef
    • Heat 1 Tbsp of oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat.
    • Add sliced beef in a single layer and sear for 2-3 minutes undisturbed.
    • Stir, season with salt and pepper, and cook another 2 minutes until almost done.
    • Add minced garlic and grated ginger, sauté for 1 minute, then remove the beef from the pan.
  3. Cook the Mushrooms
    • Heat another tablespoon of oil.
    • Add sliced mushrooms, season lightly, and cook for about 5 minutes until golden.
    • Remove from the pan and set aside with the beef.
  4. Stir-Fry the Vegetables
    • Add 1 Tbsp of oil to the same pan.
    • Toss in zucchini and bell peppers, cooking for 6-8 minutes over high heat.
    • Add onions and cook until softened but still vibrant.
  5. Combine and Finish
    • Return the beef and mushrooms to the pan.
    • Pour in the prepared sauce and stir-fry until everything is well-coated and heated through.
    • Garnish with sesame seeds and serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the beef in soy sauce and garlic for 30 minutes before cooking.
  • Customize with your favorite vegetables or add some spice with chili flakes.
